Burdock, also known as greater burdock, is a sizable native plant that can grow up to 2 meters tall. It has oval-shaped heart leaves and purple flowers, which are followed by seed heads that cling to animals and clothing, allowing the plant to spread. However, it is not just the plant's clever method of expansion that makes it valuable - the root has long been recognized as one of the best natural remedies for metabolic transformation and skin care. Burdock extracts and infusions are highly valued raw materials in cosmetics and herbal medicine. The medicinal uses of burdock have been known since ancient times and the Middle Ages. Burdock root oil is considered a traditional hair growth tonic.
Burdock root extracts are excellent for hair and skin care. They contain a huge wealth of active ingredients, including volatile compounds, tannins, β-eudesmol, caffeic acid, chlorogenic acid, inulin, trachelogenin, lappaol, terpenes, which exhibit a range of beneficial properties such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and anti-acne. Furthermore, burdock extracts regulate the function of the sebaceous glands, preventing excessive sebum secretion, reducing hair greasiness, and acting against dandruff.
Due to its anti-inflammatory and mildly disinfectant properties, burdock root can also be used effectively in the care of acne-prone, irritated, and inflamed skin.
Our offer includes water, water-glycerin, and water-glycol extracts.
